At the Yoga Conference Germany you get to choose from more than 20 teachers and more than 50 classes and workshops. Hard to choose, if you don’t know who is who. So today I would like to introduce Rita Keller, Germany’s leading Iyengar teacher.
Rita Keller started yoga at the young age of 18. She had planned to study sports but an accident made her change her plans. A friend of hers suggested a yoga class and so her search for the right teacher began. She began realizing that yoga might be her path when a teacher told her: „What you suffer from is all in your head“.
She began to study „Light on yoga“ and was immediately hooked. So she traveled to Amsterdam to meet BKS Iyengar in person for the first time. Over the years she grew to be one of his close students and also graduated as advanced senior teacher from him personally. She leads the Iyengar-Yoga-Instituts Rhein-Ahr e.V. in Bad Neuenahr and Cologne, which was officially named Iyengar Institute. She ahs been teaching for more than 40 years.
She co-authored „Iyengar Yoga during the menopause“ and „Iyengar Yoga for Motherhood“, both published in German in spring 2018 and she is the author of „Aufrecht, heiter und gelassen – Yoga kennt kein Alter“. Her specialty is yoga for women and she prepared exciting workshops for this year’s Yoga Conference.
Her voice is calm and clear and her fascination for yoga goes beyond the physical exercise. She quotes Iyengar with his words: “Yoga is one“ and she keeps repeating that yoga is not just asana, but the energy work that lies beneath.
She will teach a total of 3 classes at the Yoga Conference Germany, her class “Iyengar Yoga“ can be visited with the Light ticket.
